Context
Elizabeth Noyce, a flame of red in a sea of greens, surveys her surroundings along Maine’s Muscongus Bay. Philanthropist and art collector, Noyce bequeathed nearly seventy works of art by nineteenth- and twentieth-century artists who lived or worked in Maine—the largest single gift of paintings to the Farnsworth in the history of the museum.

Featured in “Maine and American Art: Farnsworth Art Museum” with thanks to the Henry Luce Foundation and Wyeth Foundation for American Art.
