Context
At least as early as the 1960s Nevelson made jewelry from scraps of wood and metal, usually for herself as part of her theatrical, even exotic attire. The forms and compositions of her jewelry echo those of her large-scale sculpture, and thus have the same monumentality regardless of their small size.
