Context
Fisher devised this plan in the same year he made his first sea voyage from Massachusetts to Blue Hill. Illustrated with numerical and diagrammatic results of his calculations, the drawing of the school building, with its furnishings and their arrangement incorporates the analytical skills he developed while a student of the sciences at Harvard from 1788-1795. It is also a proposed construction based upon his practical experience of teaching common school students. His drawing employs a visual language understood in his time and by builders today, one that incorporates views, scale, annotation and cross-referencing used in architectural drawings from blueprints to computer renderings.
