Context
These two chairs and silkscreened banner are among the few surviving parts of Nevelson’s monumental stage design for the St. Louis Opera Theatre’s 1984 production of Christoph Willibald von Gluck’s 1762 opera, "Orfeo and Eurydice". Before giving them to the Farnsworth, Nevelson had the black chairs gilded.
