Context
Through John Rogers’ New York factory, tens of thousands of plaster reproductions of his sculpture were produced, typically depicting the lives of ordinary people in subjects that conveyed traditional American values. Photographs of his popular sculptures were also made, probably without his authorization but which further expanded his popularity. Here a young girl, accompanied by her mother, is in conversation with her teacher at examination time.
