Context
Porter made eleven trips through Glen Canyon, Utah over five years. Working with a 2-¼-inch camera while rafting and a 4-by-5-inch camera on land, he portrayed the canyon’s rock faces, water, and plants in 1,000 images. As the water rose, he focused his camera on the floating debris and encroaching algae polluting the flooded canyon.
